Blick.ch

Blick.ch, a leading news website in Switzerland, is a go-to source for current affairs, sports, and entertainment. I had the opportunity to contribute to their user experience and interface design as a UX/UI designer.

Summary

At Blick.ch, Switzerland's leading news platform, I honed my UX/UI design skills across various projects. I played a key role in:

  • Crafting user-centered experiences: I developed low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes, user flows, and wireframes to visualize and refine user journeys.

  • Elevating user interfaces: I designed engaging and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring a seamless user experience across multiple platforms.

  • Building a unified design language: I implemented a design system in Figma to ensure design consistency and maintainability.

  • Fostering a data-driven approach: I collaborated on establishing a continuous user research process to gather valuable user feedback and get actionable insights.

  • Optimizing workflow: I streamlined research and internal team documentation by implementing a new, user-friendly structure within Dovetail, a collaborative documentation management tool.

  • Mentoring the next generation: I played a supportive role in mentoring an apprentice UI/UX designer.

UX/UI Design

At Blick.ch and Blick Sport, I played a pivotal role in crafting seamless user experiences. I focused on understanding user needs and translating them into intuitive designs. This involved developing prototypes and user flows to visualize how users would interact with our products. Through close collaboration with the design team, we refined these designs based on user feedback to ensure they met user expectations. Additionally, I worked closely with engineering teams to bridge the gap between design and development, ensuring our designs were practical and could be implemented efficiently.

My work also extended to creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces. I focused on designing interfaces that were easy to navigate and understand, while maintaining consistency across different platforms. This resulted in a cohesive user experience that enhanced user satisfaction.

Design System

I revamped the existing design system to adopt the Atomic Design methodology, breaking down components into manageable building blocks. This enhanced reusability and consistency across the product.

Additionally, I created advanced components to address complex design challenges and streamline the design process.

To ensure the design system remained efficient and adaptable, I implemented a robust management process, establishing clear guidelines for component creation, maintenance, and updates. This resulted in a more flexible and efficient design workflow.

Dovetail

To streamline our research processes and improve knowledge accessibility, I collaborated with the team to restructure our research documentation within Dovetail. I implemented a comprehensive tagging system to categorize research notes effectively, making it easier to find relevant information. By migrating existing research data and applying these tags, I enhanced the overall searchability and organization of our research repository. This improved efficiency and allowed for better insights generation.

Continuous Research

I initiated the development of a robust continuous research process to ensure our products aligned with evolving user needs. To facilitate knowledge sharing, I established a structured documentation framework that provided clear overviews of research findings for stakeholders. As the lead for the continuous research project, I conducted multiple tests and analyses to generate actionable insights that informed product improvements.

Mentoring Apprentice

I supported a Interactive Media Design apprentice in their professional development by providing regular feedback and guidance. I shared design best practices, like the Gestalt principles, to enhance their understanding of design fundamentals. Additionally, I imparted my knowledge of Figma components and workflows to facilitate their learning and efficiency.
